Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy
Sarah is a therapist serving Minneapolis + St. Paul and is currently accepting new in-person clients.
Do you accept insurance for therapy?
No. I am currently an out of network provider, which means I do not accept insurance plans.
However, many insurance plans offer partial or full reimbursement for out of network (OON) providers. I am happy to provide a SuperBill (an itemized statement with your appointments for a given time), which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. I use a program called Mentaya to help clients submit SuperBills, which makes the process fast and easy.

What is your therapy session fee? How do you accept payment?
My session fee is $215 per visit. The first session is $250 to allow for extra time for paperwork and onboarding.
I accept payments in the form of credit or debit card, including HSA/FSA cards.
I utilize a secure, HIPPA compliant electronic health record called SimplePractice to collect and store your billing information. This information is collected prior to your first appointment.
Payments will then be automatically debited from your account at midnight the day of our appointment.
Do you have a sliding scale?
Yes. I keep 2 sliding scale spots on my caseload that are priced at $100 per session. At the moment, these appointments are filled, and I do not currently have sliding scale openings. However, you are welcome to reach out to me periodically to inquire if my sliding scale openings have become available.
Do you keep a waitlist?
Yes. I currently have openings for new clients. However, when my caseload is full, I am able to add interested folks to my waitlist. In the event that a client leaves my caseload or completes therapy, I will reach out to clients in order of interest to fill the existing opening.
Do you see clients in person?
Yes. I offer in person appointments at my office in St. Paul, MN on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. (See my contact page for location information).
Where do you practice therapy in Minnesota?
I serve Minneapolis and St Paul currently, and am able to see clients from all over the Twin Cities Metro Area.
Do you offer telehealth therapy sessions?
No. I no longer offer telehealth appointments for new clients and require a commitment to in person sessions to begin work together.
I have found that when attempting to do depth work in therapy, too much is lost when we are not in the room together. I want to make sure you get the best experience from your therapy, and I firmly believe in person sessions allow for the deepest and most transformative work to happen.
I absolutely understand telehealth sessions work best for some folks’ lives and schedules, however there are many therapists who work exclusively online or do offer telehealth sessions.
Do you offer evening or weekend therapy appointments? What is your availability?
No, I do not work evenings or weekends. My work hours are:
Mon 10-5pm (latest session 4pm)
Tues 10-5pm (latest session 4pm)
Thurs 10-3:30pm (last session 2:30pm)
Do you offer biweekly therapy sessions?
No, not at first. For new clients, I require a commitment to weekly sessions for a minimum of one year (12 months).
I find that meeting less regularly impedes progress, and you will see changes in your life more quickly with this kind of regular treatment approach. I find that less regular appointment times are only helpful to clients who have an established relationship, which is why I do not offer biweekly sessions to new clients at this time.
What is your cancellation policy?
For weekly clients, you may cancel up to 3 sessions per calendar year without paying the session fee as long as you provide 48 hours notice.
Late cancellations are sessions canceled less than 48 hours before the scheduled session time. You will be responsible for the full session fee.
What types of therapies / modalities do you offer?
I have extensive trauma in two trauma specific modalities: Somatic Experiencing and NARM (Neuroaffective Relational Model). Both are specifically designed to address wounding from childhood, and are highly effective in treating a variety of PTSD, Complex PTSD, and other wounding from childhood.
Do you utilize AI recordings in your sessions?
No. I do not record sessions using AI and strongly believe AI should not be involved in your therapy sessions. If you have any specific questions about my electronic health record and online record keeping systems I use, please contact me directly.
